一、课程的性质与任务

(一)本课程的性质

《英语精读》是我校应用英语专业学生的一门专业必修课,是该专业核心课程中的核心课程,是一门实践性很强的英语综合能力训练课程。本课程旨在通过英语基本技能的反复操练、语篇的讲解与分析、语法知识的传授和实践,培养和提高学生综合运用英语的能力,从而达到新《大纲》所规定的英语听、说、读、写、译等基本技能的基本要求,为学生在英语方面的进一步学习和深造打下良好的基础。

(二)本课程的任务

本课程的任务在于传授系统的基础语言知识(语音、语法、词汇、篇章结构、语言功能等),训练基本语言技能(听、说、读、写),培养学生运用英语进行交际的能力,同时指导学习方法,培养逻辑思维能力。重点应放在口笔头复用能力的训练上。在语言技能训练方面,一、二年级侧重点有所不同:一年级狠抓听说(使学生一入学就养成开口说英语的良好习惯),但不忽视读写;二年级要加强读写训练,但听

说训练还要进行。在非外语环境中,基础阶段的学习在很大程度上是通过课堂教学进行的,课堂中必须坚持精讲、多练、以练为主的原则,用多种手段进行大量练习,为高年级阶段打下扎实的语言基本功。

二、课程的基本要求及重点、难点

(一)课程的基本要求

英语精读是一门综合英语技能课。本课程主要通过语言的基础训练与篇章讲解分析,使学生逐步提高语篇阅读理解能力,了解英语各种文体的表达方式和特点,扩大词汇量和熟练运用各种英语常用句型,具备基本的口头与笔头表达能力。学生通过积极参与课堂的各种语言交际活动,获得基本的交际技能,并达到大纲所规定的听、说、读、写、译等技能要求。

英语精读课的教学要求按新《大纲》的规定可以分为四级,每一级对学生的语音、语法、词汇、听力、口语、阅读、写作、翻译等都有相应的规定。基础阶段结束时各方面技能要求如下:

语音:发音正确,较好地掌握朗读和说话的节奏感及语流中的语音变化规律;掌握连读、辅音爆破和语音同化等技巧以及陈述句、疑问句和祈使句的语调;初步掌握语段中语音轻重和新旧信息传递之间的关系。

语法:熟练掌握主语从句、同位语从句、倒装句和各种条件

句;初步掌握句子之间和段落之间的衔接手段。

词汇:通过基础英语课、阅读课和其他途径,掌握认知词汇5500-6500个,并正确而熟练的运用其中的3000-4000个及其最基本的搭配。

听力:听懂英语国家人士关于日常生活和社会生活的谈话;听懂常见的听力材料,了解大意,领会作者的态度、感情和真实意图。听懂VOA正常速度和BBC新闻节目的主要内容。口语:能在一般社交场合与英语国家人士交谈,作到正确表达思想,语音、语调自然,无重大语法错误,语言基本得体。阅读:能读懂中等难度的文字资料。要求在理解的基础上抓住要点,并能运用正确观点评价思想内容,掌握文章的大意。写作:能根据作文题目、提纲或图表、数据等,在30分钟内写出长度为150-200个单词左右的短文,内容切题,结构严谨,条理清楚,语法正确,语言通顺,表达得体;并能根据要求,写出日常常用的应用文。

翻译:能独立完成课程中的各种翻译练习,要求译文忠实于原文、表达流畅。

工具书使用:能熟练地使用各种英汉词典和部分英英词典(如Collins Cobuild College English Dictionary 和Random House College Dictionary),独立解决语言问题和部分知识方面的疑难问题。

文化素养:熟悉中国文化传统,具有一定的文化素养;了解

英语国家的地理、历史、发展现状、文化传统、风俗习惯;具有较强的汉语口头和书面表达能力;具有较强的创新意识和一定的创新能力。

(二)课程的重点

本课程在巩固学生的学习方法与语言学习策略的同时,着重丰富学生的语言知识与训练学生的语言技能,进一步提高学生的语言综合能力,通过学习英语了解异国文化,掌握跨文化交际的知识与技能。

(三)课程的难点

本课程难点在于利用有限的学时有效提高学生的语言应用能力。培养学生的逻辑思维与独立思考的能力,有效地训练学生综合技能,尤其是词汇运用、听说能力、修辞运用能力及写作能力。

解决如何培养学生的逻辑思维与独立思考的能力,在于强调师生互动,课堂教学与课外探究并重。课内互动突出学生参与,包括教师启发式讲解、学生参与、学生讲解、教师点评、共享阅读、集体讨论等丰富多彩的活动;课外互动强调学习的自主性,包括作业互评和自评,结对学习,以及辩论会、读书报告会、主题演讲等多种形式的活动。

(二)实训、实习内容

本课程在完成理论学时之外,共计252个实践学时。其实习、实训的内容包括:教学活动均在多媒体语音教室进行,借助计算机辅助教学,鼓励学生开展自主学习;开展角色扮演、英文演讲、第二课堂、户外教学等活动,培养学生的语

言综合运用能力;联系英语教育、培训机构、涉外旅行社、外贸公司等实习、实训单位,使学生的听、说、读、写、译各方面能力都得到有效锻炼和提高。

(三)教学实施建议

针对本课程的难点、重点,教学实施建议如下:

解决如何有效地训练学生综合技能,尤其是词汇运用、修辞运用能力及写作能力的方法有两个,一是扩大语言输入量,二是精心设计学习任务。在扩大语言输入量方面,课前指定与课文相关的阅读材料以及反映当今西方社会、政治、经济和文化最新动态的课外泛读材料,并提出具体要求;在设计学习任务方面,根据课文要求布置相应的写作任务。

在教学过程中应采取灵活多样的教学方法。以学生为中心,以教师为主导,实行任务型、情景交际、多媒体教学和篇章教学活动。每单元的第一部分采用一对一的练习、角色扮演、小组讨论等,第二部分首先使用课前预习法,课前为学生设计预习作业,以培养学生的自主学习能力;课堂上以语篇为单位组织教学,按照“整体-局部-整体”的教学模式从课文的层次结构和篇章内容入手,通过小组讨论法、篇章分析法和启发式教学法引导学生既注重语言形式又注重语言功能,更注重语篇所涉及到的语言文化知识,阐述语言文字背后的文化。第三部分采用多媒体教学、课外阅读、网络学习等教学方式。

五、考核方式

测试与评估是了解学生英语水平、检查教学大纲执行情况、是评估教学质量、促进教学改革的重要手段。

本课程采取形成性评估和终结性评估相结合的方式,且形成性评估所占比重较大,尽可能对每个学生有合理的评价。试卷设计要合理,使学生重视教材所起的根本性作用。

学生总评成绩分为优秀、良好、中等、及格、不及格(90分以上为优秀,80-89为良好,70-79为中等,60-69为及格,60分以下为不及格)五个等级。

期末总评成绩=平时成绩(25%)+考试成绩(75%)

平时成绩包括出勤率、课堂发言参与程度及表现、作业完成情况和单元测试

期末成绩主要考察学生的语言应用能力和分析问题、解决问题的能力

大学英语精读课改革模式 关键词:教学模式;二语习得;阅读技巧;交际能力 长期以来,外语一直把精读课作为基础教学阶段的一门主课。笔者认为,有必要尝试一下改变精读课的传统做法。下面透过目前精读课存在的主要问题,提出几点改进建议。 一、主要问题 目前,基础教学阶段的精读课,名为精读,实为融听、说、读、写、译为一体的语言综合入门课。这在语言素材信手拈来的今天,对于入学时已掌握1600个单词、已具有基本语法知识,而听、说、读、写、译却又发展极不平衡的学生来说,这种传统精读课的教学模式已不再完全适用。其弊端在于:(1)语言素材不足。精读课基本是围绕有限的几篇文章进行解释和训练,不利于语言的自然习得,无法增强学生的语感。(2)忽视对阅读技能的训练。精读课注重对课文中语言现象的分析、讲解和操练,而对一系列阅读技能却没有必要的指导和训练。(3)无法兼顾学生入学时听、说、读、写、译的能力发展不平衡的状况。学生入学时的阅读能力远比其他能力强,但为了照顾其他能力的培养,只能选用语言较简单、内容较肤浅的素材。教材不能满足学生提高阅读水平的需求,限制了学生阅读能力的发展,抑制了学生的求知欲,影响了他们的知识面扩展。(4)忽略书面语和口语的差异。精读课十分重视围绕课文所进行的口语表达的准确性。为表达准确,学生往往要使用课文的语言,其结果是将书面语与口头语混为一体,忽视了语言的得体性。(5)忽略学生能力的发展。在精读课上,教师精讲,学生操炼。教学常常以掌握课文为目的,不重视对学生学习方法的指导,不重视学生独立思考、综合、分析能力的培养和发展。 二、建议 1.课程设置 目前新生入学时已掌握1600个单词并掌握了一定的语法知识,鉴于学生 的听、说、读、写、译能力发展不平衡,建议开设阅读、听力、口语、语法、写作等课程。这些课程分别将各门课程的技能训练作为教学的主要内容,并兼顾其他课程的技能训练,以促进和保证学生听、说、读、写、译五项技能的全面发展。 2.关于阅读课 阅读课旨在提高学生对书面语言的处理和表达能力。为此,一方面要不断扩大学生的词汇量和巩固语法知识;另一方面则要指导学生运用自己已有的阅读母语的技能,进行阅读技能的训练。因此,阅读课应注意以下原则:(1)提供数量为精读教材三倍的语言素材,以创造语言习得的条件。(2)教材的题材和体裁力
