AutoForm plus R5.2 – Installation, Configuration and Administration Guide 3

1.Introduction

1.1.How to use

This is the complete installation, configuration and administration guide of AutoForm plus R5.2 for Windows and Linux systems. It contains detailed installation and configuration instructions for all A utoForm products as well as further information on advanced installation issues.

This document uses the following typesetting conventions:

Commands to be typed are set with the Courier font, e.g.:

cd C:\Program Files\AutoForm\AFplus\R5.2

Referenced files and directories in the text are set with the Courier font, e.g.:

systemConfigFile.xml

Environment variables are set between double quotes, e.g.:

“AF_LICENSE_TYPE”

Names of menus and buttons to be clicked are set between double quotes, e.g.:

“Start” -> “Control Panel” -> “Administrative Tools”

1.2.Nomenclature

Frequently used terms in this Installation Guide:

?Front-end is the term for the graphical user interface (GUI) of AutoForm plus R5.2. A computer on which the AutoForm front-end is installed is called a “Front-end Machine”.

For a front-end machine, you need to install “AutoForm^plus Stand-alone”only.

?Back-end is the term for the solver components (Solver, ThermoSolver, Trim, Sigma Solver Extension Packages). A computer running AutoForm back-end software only is called a “Back-end Machine” or in

particular cases also a dedicated “Compute Server”. For a back-end machine, you need to install

“AutoForm^plus Stand-alone” and “AutoForm Remote Service”.

?The Remote Service is AutoForm software providing the communication between the front-end running on the local machine and the back-end running on a back-end machine. A back-end machine

therefore always needs an installation of the remote service in order to be able to communicate with

one or several front-end machines “sending” AutoForm solver jobs to the back-end machine.

The installation option “AutoForm^plus Stand-alone” contains both, front-end and back-end AutoForm software.

2.Licensing

2.1.Licensing alternatives for AutoForm

In order to satisfy the different needs of AutoForm clients, AutoForm Engineering offers two alternatives for software licensing.

Node-locked license

A node-locked license is a single-user license. It is valid for one specific computer. Operating this computer as a terminal server, redirecting the computer’s display or transferring the license to another computer, as well as copying and operating the computer as a virtual machine are explicitly prohibited. A separate license is required for each A utoForm product. The licenses are stored in a special license file and must be saved in the appropriate directory. The AutoForm license validity period is limited by contract and by technical measures.

Floating license

A floating license allows several users the right to use the AutoForm software. The software is installed on as many interconnected workstations as desired and can be used within a defined geographical area.

A contractually agreed upon defined number of licenses is activated for each A utoForm product. The licenses are located on a central license server, which is linked to the network. They are retrieved from the server as needed. This is only possible as long as there are licenses available. If all of the licenses have been retrieved by other users, the user must wait until a license becomes available. The AutoForm license validity period is limited by contract and by technical measures.

NOTE: Back-ends are only available with floating licenses.

2.2.Concurrent use of AutoForm plus R5.2 and previous versions

AutoForm plus R5.2 can be installed concurrently with any previous AutoForm software release. Folders for binaries as well as folders for configuration and data files (e.g. material files) are kept completely separately and will not interfere with each other.

NOTE: AutoForm plus R5.2 and previous AutoForm versions may not be installed in the same installation folder.

2.3.Version update from AutoForm plus R4 or newer to AutoForm plus R5.2

NOTE: Before updating an AutoForm plus R4 installation to AutoForm plus R5.2 make sure that AutoForm plus R4 is completely closed and that no R4 solver job is running locally or on any remote machine.

?Licenses for AutoForm plus R4 or newer are still valid for AutoForm plus R5.2 software, i.e. no new license files need to be generated and the AutoForm plus R4 license(s) may be used during installation of AutoForm plus R5.2 ?Licenses for R5.2 will work with R5.1, R5 and R4.

?It is recommended to upgrade the RLM license server when migrating from AutoForm plus R4 to AutoForm plus R5.2. AutoForm plus R5.2 uses the same version of the RLM license server then AutoForm plus R5.

?It is required to upgrade the R4 remote service to the R5.2 remote service. The R5.2 remote service is downward compatible, i.e. it is able to serve as R4 remote service in case of concurrent use of R4 and R5.2.

? A parallel use of R5.2, R5.1, R5 and R4 is technical possible, but it depends on the amount of the licenses in your company. If you have only purchased one license and you work with R5.2 then a parallel installed R4, R5 or R5.1 will not start, because your license is used by the R5.2.

?The license type …S“ is no longer available with R5.2. If you have a valid …S“ type license and you want to upgrade to R5.2, then please call your local AutoForm sales representant.

AutoForm的特点:1)它提供从产品的概念设计直至最后的模具设计的一个完整的解决方案,其主要模块有User- Interface(用户界面)、Automesher(自动网格划分)、Onestep(一步成形)、DieDesigner(模面设计)、Incremental(增量求解)、Trim(切边)、Hydro(液压成形),支持Windows和Unix操作系统。
