Activity and Probe Ⅰ

Goal:Review how to talk about problems and give advice.

Materials:Paper and markers.

Procedure:

·Write out matching sets of problems and advice on separate sheets of paper. For example, the problem might be:I’m really tired. The advice might be:You should go to bed.You can use situations from the students’book and other situations using language students are familiar with.Be sure that each piece of advice applies to only one of the problems.

·When writing the sheets of paper, write large enough so that students can read the statements at a distance.Make eight sets of problems and advice for a total of 16 sheets of paper.Place the sheets face down on a table in four rows of four.

·Divide the class into two teams.A member of one team turns over two sheets of paper and reads to the class the problem or advice on each. Then he or she turns them face down again.A member of the other team does the same.

·When a team thinks they can match a problem with the correct advice, the next player turns over those two sheets and reads them to the class. If correct, that team gets a point. If not,the students turn them face down again.

·The game continues until all matches are made. The team with the most points wins.
