Subject: Inflation

Purpose: To inform my audience about the definition of the inflation and the reason for its happening.

Introduction

Do you find that you have to pay even several times of money to by the same thing than many years ago? If you often watch CCTV news, you must have found that CPI, PPI or other indexes appears in the news day and day. Every one of you must have heard of this word “inflation” especially after the economic crisis happened. Today, I would like to talk about some interesting facts about the inflation.

Body

I.What does the inflation means and how it occurs?

A.The definition of the inflation

Inflation is when the prices of most goods and services continue to creep upward. When this happens, your standard of living falls.

That's because each dollar buys less, so you have to spend more to get the same goods and services

B.What causes inflation

1.Demand-pull inflation. T his occurs when demand for a

good or service rises, but supply stays the same. Buyers

become willing to pay more to satisfy their demand. There

are not enough goods for people to buy.

2.Cost-push inflation. It starts when the supply of goods or

services is restricted for some reason, while demand stays

the same. When the supply of labor is not enough to meet

demand, it can create wage inflation.

3.The third cause is overexpansion of the money supply.

That's when a glut of capital in the market chases too few

opportunities. It's often a result of expansive fiscal or

monetary policy, creating too much liquidity in the form of

dollars or credit.

II.How does inflation impact our life

A.Inflation usually hurts your buying power. That's because rising

prices means you have to pay more for the same goods and

services.

B.Inflation has another bad side-effect. Once people start to

expect inflation, they will spend now rather than later. That's

because they know things will only cost more lately. This

consumer spending heats up the economy even more, leading

to more and more inflation. This situation is known as spiraling

inflation because it spirals out of control.

Conclusion

Inflation is a big economic problem to the whole. It’ll bring out many troubles, which often affects our daily life. And we’d better have knowledge on inflation. After this speech, I hope everyone will have a further comprehend with inflation.
