AXIe机箱管理控制器研制

Abstract

As an open system instrumentation and test expansion standard, AXIe has greatly promoted the production of modular instrumentation and the development of modular expansion platform. In order to perform power negotiation, chassis cooling and verify fabric compatibility, AXIe specification includes shelf manager to monitor the proper operation of the AXIe chassis. Therefore, there is urgent demand and application significance for developing AXIe shelf management controller which implements the intelligent platform management with the developed AXIe system module.

Based on the analysis of the AXIe specification and the existing system module, this thesis determines the functions of shelf management controller and propose the overall design scheme. The development of the shelf manager includes hardware and software design. The hardware board is divided into core control module and function interface module according to the system function, and the Vivado design suite is selected to realize the real-time monitoring capabilities.

The hardware scheme selects the ZYNQ-7000 series device as control unit of the core control module, and the function interface module exports and provides necessary peripherals for the shelf management, including Ethernet, UART, SD, JTAG, etc. In software design, the shelf manager interacts with the management controller of AXIe instrument module and implements the instrument state transition management and IPMB communication, by configuring the processing system in Vivado and programming in SDK. In addition, this thesis introduces the remote management application software, which is developed in LabWindows/CVI. The sensor readings is transmitted to the upper-computer software and then displayed the management information after sensor data decoding and processing.

Finally, the function test and performance analysis are conducted including IPMB communication test and state transition management test of the shelf management controller. The test result verifies that the shelf management controller can meet the requirements of the intelligent platform management system.
