As a student volunteer leader of "Hands on Shanghai" organization, I am engaged in “Basketball Club Program”. My duty is to make preparation and to give basketball lessons to the migrant children in a primary schoo l once a month. I’m also responsible for training student volunteers and bridging between them and volunteer work. The program, sponsored by Nike Corporations, tends to improve physical health of the migrant children who belong to the underprivileged in our city. Regarding the volunteer work, other student leaders put more emphasis on physical training and basketball skills improvement. However, I put communication on the priority of the agenda. In my opinion, improving basketball skills is just one part; Furthermore, children’s mental health should also be taken into consideration. These children may find the living environment here is quite different from they used to live in, which could cause a sense of insecurity. Due to the busy work of their parents, these children may lack proper care, which can make them think themselves insignificant. Therefore, I try to become an elder brother and a friend to them so that we can make more connections and understand each other better and build trust. I design many interesting basketball games for them to have fun. When some fail in a basketball competition, I comfort them by making them understand that we have nothing to regret if we try our best. Through the games, I encourage them to be optimistic and stimulate them to learn from each other. I talk about my personal life experiences to enhance their confidence and adaptability. With the efforts, I’m gratified to see the children tend to be more active and extrovert. Through the process, I improve the leadership and communication skills. More importantly, I have a lot of fun and a sense of satisfaction. Every time I go to the school, the children greet me warmly, saying ” Zhu, I miss you a lot”, which is a reward to my effort and energy.

2. We are running our business in a rapidly changing environment. Describe an experience that you were learning or working in a new environment or adopting a new approach/ methodology to learn or work. Please share specifically what was the experience, the challenges came across and the way you dealt with the issues, and the overall outcome. Furthermore, elaborate what you will do differently if you face similar challenges again in the future.

Your answer should not be more than 1000 character space (includes letters, space and punctuation).

I was the volunteer of Shanghai 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games. My duty was to accompany full-itinerary with the Byelorussian table tennis team. Owing to the shortage of interpreters of Russian, this team was not equipped with professionals. The difficulty of communication between the athletes and me was apparent. At first, I discussed the challenge with my teammates and tried to figure out the solution. However, it was in vain. At the beginning, it was truly difficult for us to convey our meaning to them. During the period, I fully developed my potential on body language, eye contact, gesture, drawing sketch map, which really worked. Then I shared my experience with my teammates. After that, we became more like a team oriented towards the single goal. Although my gesture caused some laughter occasionally, it went smoothly. In addition, I managed to learn some basic Russian words to make our communication easier. In the end, the coach and athletes were quite satisfied with our service and sent gifts to us to show their gratitude. The key to effective communication is a sincere heart and a strong sense of responsibility. Nothing can be an obstacle if I really want to succeed.

1.If I were lucky enough to join PwC, it would be an honor. Both small and big companies have their respective attractions to me. On the one hand, doing audit work in small companies will enable me to learn more about the whole auditing procedure, thus greatly improving my auditing and accounting skills. On the other hand, offering services to the large enterprises can give me insight into more new ideas and concepts that never occurred to me ever before, thus contributing to my global, strategic eyes and enriching my life experiences.

2. Considering the specific industry, I personally prefer the vehicle manufacturing industry such as Shanghai Volkswagen or Shanghai GM. The reason is quite simple: I love cars so much and collecting car models is one of my hobbies.

PwC is an outstanding cooperation and its service helps to enhance the clients’ success. I suggest that PwC may carry out investment business based on clients’ needs. As PwC is professional in the business field, it must be a win-win situation for both.
